Eloctronic Banking Risk. مخاطر الصيرفة الالكترونية

This dissertation discusses a vital aspect of the Yemeni modern banking system, which is the risk of electronic banking. With the developments in telecommunications and information systems, electronic banking has become more complex and with several risks surrounding it. The BASEL committee has addressed such issues and established a set of principles to guide the management process of electronic banking. The study resulted in the following major findings 1- A certain level of operational risk exists for banks providing electronic banking services. The factors are as below, in descending order of risk: risk of wrongful transactions executed by customers, risk of human error of service providers, risk of back office support operations, risk of procedures and internal controls, risk of the ability to provide systems and equipment 2- A certain level of technological risk exists for banks providing electronic banking services. The factors are as below, in descending order of risk: risks of the general services that accompany the electronic banking services, risk of substitute systems for the main banking system, risks of the supporting telecommunication infrastructure, risks pertaining to the supporting systems of electronic banking, risks of backup systems for bank data 3- A certain level of Security risk exists for banks providing electronic banking services. The factors are as below, in descending order of risk: risk of duplicating programming data, risk of illegal penetration or hacking of the bank systems.
